Borrowing from Other Libraries
Borrowing from other libraries is available if the title doesn’t exist in our TRAC catalogue. Make sure to check whether an item is available before requesting it from outside of the system. These requests are called InterLibrary Loans (ILLs).
For questions, requests, and managing your InterLibrary Loan, please contact our Information Desk at 780-357-7455 or info@gppl.ca.
Requesting an InterLibrary Loan:
You can search libraries across Alberta through Relais, the province’s interlibrary loan solution system, brought to you by the Public Libraries Services Branch (PLSB). You can request items directly from other Alberta libraries using this link here.
Cancelling an InterLibrary Loan Request:
Please let library staff know if you would like to cancel your ILL Request.
Loan Periods for InterLibrary Loans:
The loan period is set by the lending library. Most libraries will lend their items for 3 weeks.
Returns and Renewals for InterLibrary Loans:
Materials must be returned with the ILL Bookband/Barcode card attached to the item.
Renewals are not always available for interlibrary loan materials as the loan period is determined by the lending library.
Lost or Damaged InterLibrary Loan Items
Charges for lost or damaged items are decided by the lending library and may be quite substantial. These charges are solely the responsibility of the customer; GPPL staff cannot waive or reduce these fees.
