Learn to Tech

GPPL is excited to announce that we're the recipients of a $10,000 grant from the Telus Community Board Grant to go towards our Learn to Tech project. The grant focuses on supporting youth up to age 29 in Canada experiencing obstacles in reaching their full potential through funding health/educational initiatives.

The Learn to Tech project provided a much needed refresh for GPPL's classroom in the summer of 2024. In 2023, these laptops supported a variety of programs and classes, including Basic English & Work Skills Class (BEWS), English for Ukrainians, Graphic Design with Canva, Writing SOS Workshop, Introduction to Computers, Financial Information 101, Microsoft Office Basics, Homebuyers Seminar, Coding Basics, Internet Security, Career Planning/Resume help, and more. These programs are hosted by GPPL staff or members of the community.

The Learn to Tech project funding will update our laptops in order to continue offering our existing programs sustainably into the future. Our goal with these new laptops is to expand our program offerings to things like content creation (video/audio) and more coding-based courses, things that hadn't been possible with the old technology.

At GPPL we believe that no-cost education and training are critical in supporting youth and other equity deserving groups, allowing for the opportunity to obtain new skills with no barrier to entry. Thank you to the Telus Community Board Grant for providing us with the funding to continue and grow.
