Teen Area: Break In

Sep. 21, 2024

Overnight on Friday / early Saturday morning (Sept. 20/21) one of the windows in the Teen Area was smashed and computers, monitors, and equipment from the Teen Area was stolen.

GPPL is grateful for the quick action from the City of GP's Facilities Staff for fixing the window so we were able to resume operation ASAP. We reopened at 1:00 PM on Saturday, and were able to proceed as planned with our regular weekend programs and two weekend events (Murder Mystery hosted by the Champions and Alberta Culture Days Handmade Market).

We would also like to thank the RCMP for locating the stolen gaming computers and returning them to the Library. We will be checking the equipment to determine if everything is functional, but there appears to be damage to some of the items. Finally, we would like to thank our community for being so supportive during this tough Saturday. We appreciate the kind words and offers of help.

If you would like to donate to the Library to help towards the costs of replacing the damaged equipment, you can do so by visiting the link below and selecting 'Teen Gaming Computers' from the drop down menu: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/7777

Parts of the Teen Area are still closed due to safety reasons. Staff are available to assist anyone looking for materials from that area.
